The monotonous and very unpredictable circumstances developed due to Covid-19 have compelled all of us to crave a fresh new change! Even though the situation hasn’t completely changed but few things are quite under control due to the vaccination drive and strict measures taken. So, to pump up the new year mood why not give ourselves a pleasant change in the form of a ‘new smile’!

‘Smile speaks a thousand words! Very well said by someone. A smile crosses all the boundaries of age, gender, country, race, color, or culture. It speaks a universal language. A warm smile conveys happiness, affection, generosity, and positivity. A bright splashing smile is a huge contributor in enhancing one’s personality. So, what are we waiting for? Why not make an instant, fresh resolution to get that perfect and confident smile this new year!

Take that baby step to consult a Dentist first!

It is indeed one of the most important steps to that gleaming smile. There are a lot of things when it comes to enhancing a smile. Gone are the days when a smile was all about teeth only. Now it’s a combination work of teeth, gums, gum color and contour, lips, lip color, face. To analyze all these factors a good 30-minute appointment with a Dentist is mandatory. In this very first appointment, a Dentist does a lot of preparation in form of photos, scans or study models, mock-ups, and most importantly to get to know what exactly a patient wants. Now a days few advanced software systems can show the end result of the smile transformation as well. This helps the patient to get a better view of his or her smile too. Thus, a first dental appointment is very significant and can contribute a lot to clearing away all the patient’s dilemmas.

Brighten up your teeth with teeth cleaning and teeth whitening procedures!

Not all are blessed to have pearly white teeth. And few who have them do not know how to maintain them white. But no worries few simple basic dental treatments are there to rescue you. Teeth cleaning is the simplest procedure and anyone can get it done. Where color change of teeth is not a problem, teeth cleaning can get rid of the unwanted stains and tartar. And a new, clean and healthy smile is ready.

On the contrary, teeth whitening is purely a cosmetic dental procedure. In-office teeth whitening can change the color of the teeth one shade lighter. Although, at-home teeth whitening can also be done but it is better to get it done at a dental clinic under the supervision of an experienced Dentist. It is a 30–90-minute procedure. And boom! You can flaunt a dazzlingly bright smile!

Gummy smile to perfect smile!

Overexposure of gums can really ruin a great and well-aligned smile. But thanks to modern dental procedures not just the teeth but even gums can be reshaped. Cut and sutures are thing of the past, lasers have been a great boon in managing such over-exposed gums. With the help of lasers, the unnecessary length of gums can be contoured so that the gums align well with the teeth’ shape. Such contouring of gums can make the small teeth appear bigger in shape and the teeth and gums are in great harmony and symmetry. It hardly takes 45 minutes for the procedure.

Similarly, many times we observe people with dark hyperpigmented gums. And due to such dark gums people avoid smiling and are very hesitant due to their unesthetic appearance. Such pigmented dark gums can also be treated with the help of periodontal plastic and cosmetic procedures. It’s called the depigmentation procedure. Earlier the method was a routine surgical procedure but now various non-invasive methods like electrosurgery, cryosurgery, and lasers are available. With these modern esthetic dental procedures, the color and appearance of gums can be restored to healthy pink wherein the patient is confident to smile again!

Don’t ignore the lips!

Lips form an integral part of a smile. Short lips, saggy or sunken lips or pigmented lips can be a huge turn-off. With the advent of dermal fillers, the volume, shape, and symmetry of lips can be molded. Hyaluronic acid fillers are the most popular injectable dermal fillers which mimic the natural hyaluronic acid present in the body. Such fillers increase the volume of lips making them look plumper and younger. People whose profession demands a more esthetic appearance can think of dermal lip fillers. Usually, the effects stay for around 6-7 months.

Another major concern about lips is the color of lips. Dark hyperpigmented lips make the smile look very unesthetic. At times, the hyperpigmentation is natural due to excessive melanin deposition or at times due to the use of sub-standard cosmetics. Similar to gum depigmentation, lip depigmentation can also be done with the help of lasers.

Facial esthetics to make you look younger

Modern facial esthetic procedures have made women and men age in reverse! Many a times it is observed that the teeth look much younger than the skin. Thus, to maintain symmetry between the face, skin, and teeth it is important to pay attention to facial esthetics as well. Modern facial esthetic procedures like injectable dermal fillers, Botox, micro-needling, platelet-rich plasma injections, or chemical peels all help to restore the lost tone of facial skin. These procedures help to get rid of wrinkles, scars, blemishes or pigmentations and restore the health, color, shape, and tone of facial skin. Such procedures make a person’s smile look more youthful and presentable.

Enhance your smile with face yoga!

You heard it right! Face yoga is the newest trend to tone the facial and jaw muscles. Such jaw exercises or face yoga helps to get rid of double chin, tones the jawline and cheeks and is great for jaw joint health too. Certain opening and closing of the lower jaw under light pressure exercises can sculpt the jawline and vanish the double chin. Also, important are certain jaw stretches that help to relax the over-exerted jaw joint.

Final words

The enthusiasm that we have during the beginning of a year is lost as the months pass by. Thus, the new year is the perfect time to buckle up and get that pending glowing smile back for the year ahead. A smile is not just about teeth anymore, it is in fact amalgamation of teeth, gums, lips, and face. Even a slight improvement in any of these factors can have a huge positive impact on your smile. So, what are we waiting for? Grab the phone and book an appointment with your Dentist to gift yourself a dazzling smile this new year!!!
